Acoustic Panel Installation Instructions:

Audimute Panel Clips are an effective and affordable way to hang panels with minimal damage to the wall.  Installation is quick and simple. The use of Audimute Panel Clips cuts panel installation time/cost by 50%.
  • A single panel clip is approximately 2" wide, 1 3/8" tall, with a 3/8" lift-off. Each panel clip weighs 1 oz.
  • We recommend using ONE panel clip for all standard sized vertical panel installations & TWO panel clips for 2'x3 'and 2'x4' horizontal panel installations.

Panel Construction

Audimute Acoustic Panels are the perfect solution for reverberant noise. Adding acoustical panels to the room will reduce reflected sound thereby dampening the echo and reverberation, creating an appropriate acoustic environment. Audimute acoustic sound panels offer excellent acoustic absorption properties. Panels are edge framed from lightweight metal and hand assembled from start to finish. Effective use of eco-C-tex sound absorbing technology will substantially reduce volume levels and improve the acoustics of any space.

Digital Printing Information:

The facing of the panel is 100% polyester. Choose from our stock images or supply your own logo, photo or image (high resolution approximately 300DPI required). The quality of the print will depend on the quality of the image supplied. The image is wrapped around the panel and fixed to the back to create a nice finish. Please provide your files in the form of CD-ROM (jpeg, tiff or psd file) along with a hard print of the design or section of the design.

Reproduction Suitability:

Not all images are appropriate for large format digital printing. Please consider the following when choosing photographs: Photographs should be sized proportionately to the finished dimensions of the panel. If your dimensions are wider than they are tall, then your photograph should have the same proportion. Images should be cropped if needed. Photographs should be in focus. Our graphics department will review all artwork submitted for reproduction to determine if it is appropriate in quality, clarity and size for the project.

Legal Considerations:

You must have legal rights for use on any images submitted for reproduction. All custom sales are final.

Recommended coverage of your space varies, based on your room size, room construction, sound source and more.  It's always best to call an Audimute acoustical expert (866-505-MUTE) before purchasing Acoustic Panels to ensure you will achieve your desired results.

When purchasing Acoustic Panels for your space, we typically recommend around 25% coverage to maximize the effectiveness of the absorption product.  Applications like vocal booths or studios may require more than 25% coverage - more general applications (with lower decibel levels or higher frequency noise) may achieve satisfactory results with less than 25% coverage.  Again, please give us a call to determine the ideal level of absorption for your space!

Calculation to figure out how many panels you'll need:

(Room Length x Room Width x % desired coverage)/ Acoustic Panel sq. ft.

Example: 10'x10' Room - (10x10x.25)/8 = 3.125 = Need (3) 2x4 Panels
                10'x10' Room - (10x10x.25)/4 = 6.25 = Need (6) 2x2 Panels

This will give you the number of Acoustic Panels you'll need to achieve your desired results based on the degree of coverage you choose.  Play around with the coverage to see how you can achieve the best results while staying within your budget.

GO GREEN with Audimute - the smarter sound control solution! Not only do Audimute Panels offer outstanding acoustic performance, but they also feature eco-C-tex, the GREENEST sound absorption technology in today's marketplace! eco-C-tex blends natural cotton and renewable cellulose fibers (the majority of which is post-consumer recycled newspaper!) in a process that produces ZERO landfill waste and requires 1/10 of the energy to produce compared to traditional fiberglass.

So why choose man-made fiberglass, dubbed as the next asbestos by many? Exposure to airborne fiberglass particles or direct contact with the product can cause skin, eye, nose and throat irritation and itching. Coughing is also a reaction to inhaled fibers. What’s more, fiberglass is considered to be a probable carcinogen by National Institutes of Health. Fiberglass product packages display cancer warning labels unlike cotton panels that do not require this warning. These labels are required by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) based on determinations made by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP).

Be good to yourself and your environment!  Choose Audimute Panels, the natural and safe acoustic solution - a better alternative to fiberglass and foam.

How do I know how much sound this product will absorb?

NRC ratings are one of the best ways to compare similar sound absorption products and determine which are most effective in absorbing sound at various frequencies.  The higher the NRC rating, the more effective the product.

Audimute Acoustic Panels have been tested and received an impressive 1.00 NRC, which means they can absorb up to 100% of the echoes and reverberation when installed correctly.
The chart below is pulled from the product's official Sound Lab Report and shows the ratings of Audimute Acoustic Panels at each of the most common frequencies.  To determine the overall NRC of Audimute Acoustic Panels, the NRC values at each tested frequency are averaged.

 125 Hz
 250 Hz
 5001000
2000
4000
Avg. NRC
.22 NRC
.66 NRC
 1.12 NRC
1.10 NRC
1.07 NRC
1.11 NRC
1.00 NRC

As you can see in the chart above (and on the official Sound Lab Report below), Audimute Acoustic Panels work extremely well in the mid to high frequency range, but not so well in the low frequency range.  Based on these results, we typically recommend absorption products for mid and high frequency applications, such as those dealing with noise from pianos, flutes, voices, etc.

How are NRC ratings determined?

Only products that have been tested in a controlled lab setting receive an NRC rating.  The process of determining a product's NRC involves testing its performance across some of the most common frequencies, then averaging the sum of these individual ratings to determine the product's overall NRC.  In general, an NRC of 0 means a product is perfectly reflective, whereas an NRC of 1 means the product is perfectly absorptive.

Another way to look at these ratings is as a percentage.  For example, if a product has an overall NRC of 1.00 (such as Audimute Acoustic Panels), the product is estimated to absorb up to 100% of the mid and high frequencies in a room.

NRC Depends on Proper Use & Installation

It's important to remember that the NRC of sound absorption products is determined based on proper use and installation.  If a product has not been installed following our recommended installation method, it may not be as effective.

Please feel free to give us a call at 866-505-MUTE if you have any questions regarding the installation requirements of a specific Audimute product.

Below is the official sound lab report for Audimute Acoustic Panels.

Audimute Acoustic Panels were independently tested by Riverbank Acoustical Lab.

Customer Reviews

I am the lead singer in a band and a full time mom that needs to be able to rehearse at night while my kids are going to sleep. We were immediately able to hear the difference in the room (and outside of the room) once we placed the panels into the room. My rehearsal space also doubles as a game room for my kids, so we have enjoyed how much quieter the house feels overall. Pros: Improved sound quality, great looking! Cons: The decorative option seemed pricey

The acoustical panels are very well made and look great. The frame is sturdy and provides solid, straight lines. Hanging the panels couldn't be easier; it's as easy as hanging a picture.
