Choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets for your next sound project whether it's a closet vocal booth or a studio sound proofing job.

Refer to the table below to determine how much product to order. Keep in mind double layering the sheets will provide best results. (Audimute does not recommend cutting the sheets. Instead, sheets can easily be folded to fit your personal size requirements.) From a 4' x 4' room (a perfect closet vocal booth) to a 12' x 14' room or larger (larger studio sound proofing), Audimute has you covered!

Although there is a great deal of science behind acoustics, for many applications sound is subjective. It is considered by many to be an art. Everyone's taste is different. For recording, some artists and sound engineers enjoy a natural room sound while others prefer to add effects to the recording later in the mixing process. Drummers tune their kits differently for various styles of music. A rock band that practices in a garage may need more acoustic treatment if they have neighbors next door versus down the street.

The style of music also comes into play. For example, hip hop, known for producing low frequency, will require thicker layers of absorption and possibly even barrier products (Peacemaker, DB-Block, Mass Loaded Vinyl, etc). Jazz, on the other hand, typically may not produce the same sound pressure levels and only require sparse coverage on the walls of the garage.

Audimute's philosophy is not to over sell sound solutions. Our recommendation is to take a phased-in approach and add product as needed to accomplish your acoustic goals. Don't hesitate to call our friendly professionals for assistance. We are a family business and glad to help.

    Vocal Booth

Cover all dense surface areas with double layer of sheets (single layer may be used but will not be as effective). Keep in mind that Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets are rated for sound absorption not isolation. However, for many applications they do provide enough isolation for recording vocals when a structure (closet vocal booth, small room) already exists. Ensure your vocal booth is as airtight as possible by using weather stripping, door seal around any doors and an airtight sweep/threshold if need be for the bottom of the door.

    Drums

Double layer is recommended due to the wide frequency range of the instrument coupled with high sound pressure levels. Treat right angles (corners) with bass traps. Long Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets (8' x 3') are the preferred choice as they cover the entire wall space.

    Garage

Typically a two car garage will need 24 sheets. The more area covered, the better. Peacemaker, another product we manufacture for low frequency isolation, may also come into play, but only in about 25% of our garage projects, usually insulation of thin doors, drywall, floors and more.

The sheets will cancel most of the mid and high frequencies and make neighbors and house mates happy. Some lows will persist, but the nuisance frequencies will be reduced substantially.

Audimute will not only make your neighbors happy by reducing the amount of sound leaving the practice space, but there is a substantial secondary benefit... Simply put, Audimute makes for better music and musicianship. It enables musicians to hear their music in incredible detail (i.e. mistakes, buried in acoustic deflections, will now be heard clearly, etc.). It quickly puts an end to the musical "shouting contest" many bands experience as musicians increase their volume and intensity only to hear themselves. The quality of practice time will be substantially increased and enable a band to focus on musical dynamics. In a short time, there will be noticeable improvements in timing, tune, tone and instrumental technique, etc. while creating an audibly safe environment.

    Window

Select enough material to cover window, preferably in double layer. Fold sheets for smaller windows if necessary.

    Apartment

Our product is most often used on both sides of the wall (in other words, covering the shared wall in both rooms). You would want to cover both sides of the wall and if possible (budget allowing) in double layer.

GO GREEN with Audimute sound absorbing drapery material

Not only do Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets offer outstanding acoustic performance, but they are also manufactured from recycled cotton natural fibers, reducing landfill waste. Audimute's inexpensive sound absorbtion material is safe and non-toxic.

So why choose man-made fiberglass, dubbed as the next asbestos by many? Exposure to airborne fiberglass particles or direct contact with the product can cause skin, eye, nose and throat irritation and itching. Coughing is also a reaction to inhaled fibers. What’s more, fiberglass is considered to be a probable carcinogen by National Institutes of Health.  Fiberglass product packages display cancer warning labels unlike Audimute's cotton inexpensive sound absorbtion material that do not require this warning. These labels are required by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) based on determinations made by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP).

Be good to yourself and your environment, choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets, the natural and safe acoustic solution, a better alternative to fiberglass.

How do I know how much sound this product will absorb?

NRC ratings are one of the best ways to compare similar sound absorption products and determine which are most effective in absorbing sound at various frequencies.  The higher the NRC rating, the more effective the product.

    How are NRC ratings determined?

Only products that have been tested in a controlled lab setting receive an NRC rating.  The process of determining a product's NRC involves testing its performance across some of the most common frequencies, then averaging the sum of these individual ratings to determine the product's overall NRC.  In general, an NRC of 0 means a product is perfectly reflective, whereas an NRC of 1 means the product is perfectly absorptive.

Another way to look at these ratings is as a percentage.  For example, if a product has an overall NRC of .70 (such as Audimute Absorption Sheets), the product is estimated to absorb up to 70% of the mid and high frequencies in a room.

NRC Depends on Proper Use & Installation

It's important to remember that the NRC of sound absorption products is determined based on proper use and installation.  If a product has not been installed following our recommended installation method, it may not be as effective.

In general, sound absorption products achieve poor NRC ratings in the low frequency ranges, but do extremely well absorbing mid and high frequencies.  Based on these results, we typically recommend absorption products for mid and high frequency applications, such as those dealing with noise from pianos, flutes, voices, etc.

Please feel free to give us a call at 866-505-MUTE if you have any questions regarding the installation requirements of a specific Audimute product.

These sheets are amazing. Not only they blocked the sound coming out of our rehearsal room, but they also improved the sound quality inside the rehearsal room. My band is very happy with the results, we now can hear eachother!!! http://www.myspace.com/dependientesdelbeat

Thanks guys, This is without a doubt a MUST HAVE for all home recording studios. We are now getting a damn near perfectly dead sound in our vocal booth, and control room. We are blown away. We are putting them EVERYWHERE! haha...J.d. and Dan, Loyal 7 Records

The sound absorption sheets perform exactly as described in your videos. I doubled or triple layered were I could. Myself (along with my wife, my neighbors) and are very happy with this product. I used the Zoom H4N digital recorder to record drums in my studio. The sound (due to the absorption sheets)was beyond compare to anything I recorded in that room prior. The drum sound was deep, full, wet, and you could hear every little sound articulation from every percussion piece on my kit. I was a liitle bummed that my order took a little longer to ship due to an error with Paypal. It was clear my payment had gone through but apparently Paypal didn't send the funds to your company until days later. No worries....I fully intend to purchase items from you again - you guys rock!!

VERY!!!!!!!!!!! I was using them in a F.R.O.G. (Finished Room Over Garage) where I do some recording of my original songs and some others for my work. The difference was obvious on play back of the first recording I did with them. I was blown away with the clarity. I did a rough recording that would have sounded amateurish and muddy before. Now I have beautiful clarity of the parts...on JUST a rough recording. I could have used a number of other products, but the sheets provide me the quality of sound absorption as well as versatility of applications. Quite simply, I will not part with them!

I am a singer/songwriter with releases on major dance labels. This involves recording vocals and sending out files to producers worldwide. I also produce an interview based radio show called "Behind The Lyric". I have been working in my home studio for years, and had reasonably good acoustics in my last apartment. I recently moved apartments, and my new place is very echoey. After piling up pillows and singing with a blanket over my head, I realized I needed a better soundproofing solution. My friend, Mike, told me that if we ordered Audimute blankets, we could easily construct a basic workable sound booth in my kitchen pantry closet! The ceiling is quite high, so he constructed a light shelf which we stuffed with old pillows on the top. We then used seven of the eight Audimute blankets that we ordered to nearly double wrap the interior of the closet. Pros: The difference the blankets make is phenomenal! I get the dry vocal sound I need to continue my home recording at a fraction of the cost of building a full blown recording booth. The cat likes to hang out in the booth too, 'cuz it's cozy and quiet. Cons: We forgot to wash them first before mounting them on the wall, and they smell a bit like cardboard. -Marcie

I am the father of a budding drummer. After three years of drumming, the next door neighbors informed us that they just couldn't take it any more. I have to admit, even proud parents can get annoyed with the three hours of daily drumming. After doing some research on the net I decided to build a drum room under my son's queen size loft bed. The idea was to make it as cheaply as possible, portable so it can be moved to an apartment in a few more years, kill as much sound as possible outside the room and still have a good sound in the room. The interior of the room is lined with Audimute sound sheets. The neighbors are happy, my wife, daughter, and I are happy, and my son is happy. Thanks Audimute! Pros: easy to install, reasonable price, provides the desired result. - Brett Bissell

My name is Mike and I am a music producer/engineer. Since my recording studio is in my home, I needed something to kill sound for recording vocals. I heard about Audimute and looked into it and thought it looked great, so I purchased the Peacemaker product and Absorption Sheets and had outstanding results. Pros: Easy to install, low cost, portable Cons: Would be cool if you could purchase the sheets in different colors
