Audimute has helped hundreds of customers with soundproofing a garage, basement, vocal booth, band rehearsal space, home studio and many other areas.  Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets are used to absorb sound within a space, eliminating echoes and reverberation. If you want to take soundproofing a step further, consider the addition of Peacemaker Sound Installation.  Unlike Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets, Peacemaker Sound Insulation is a barrier product used to block sound and address the issue of low frequencies.  Adding Peacemaker sound insulation in combination with Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets in your soundproof garage is often recommended for the most effective sound control.

In addition to providing superior sound control for garage soundproofing projects, Audimute sound absorption materials are also all natural, environmentally-friendly, safe and a snap to install in any possible location.

If you’re looking to create a soundproof garage, turn to Audimute - we make soundproofing simple!

Choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets for your next sound project whether it's a closet vocal booth or a studio sound proofing job.

Refer to the table below to determine how much product to order. Keep in mind double layering the sheets will provide best results. (Audimute does not recommend cutting the sheets. Instead, sheets can easily be folded to fit your personal size requirements.) From a 4' x 4' room (a perfect closet vocal booth) to a 12' x 14' room or larger (larger studio sound proofing), Audimute has you covered!

Although there is a great deal of science behind acoustics, for many applications sound is subjective. It is considered by many to be an art. Everyone's taste is different. For recording, some artists and sound engineers enjoy a natural room sound while others prefer to add effects to the recording later in the mixing process. Drummers tune their kits differently for various styles of music. A rock band that practices in a garage may need more acoustic treatment if they have neighbors next door versus down the street.

The style of music also comes into play. For example, hip hop, known for producing low frequency, will require thicker layers of absorption and possibly even barrier products (Peacemaker, DB-Block, Mass Loaded Vinyl, etc). Jazz, on the other hand, typically may not produce the same sound pressure levels and only require sparse coverage on the walls of the garage.

Audimute's philosophy is not to over sell sound solutions. Our recommendation is to take a phased-in approach and add product as needed to accomplish your acoustic goals. Don't hesitate to call our friendly professionals for assistance. We are a family business and glad to help.

Vocal Booth

Cover all dense surface areas with double layer of sheets (single layer may be used but will not be as effective). Keep in mind that Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets are rated for sound absorption not isolation. However, for many applications they do provide enough isolation for recording vocals when a structure (closet vocal booth, small room) already exists. Ensure your vocal booth is as airtight as possible by using weather stripping, door seal around any doors and an airtight sweep/threshold if need be for the bottom of the door.

Drums

Double layer is recommended due to the wide frequency range of the instrument coupled with high sound pressure levels. Treat right angles (corners) with bass traps. Long Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets (8' x 3') are the preferred choice as they cover the entire wall space.

Garage

Typically a two car garage will need 24 sheets. The more area covered, the better. Peacemaker, another product we manufacture for low frequency isolation, may also come into play, but only in about 25% of our garage projects, usually insulation of thin doors, drywall, floors and more.

The sheets will cancel most of the mid and high frequencies and make neighbors and house mates happy. Some lows will persist, but the nuisance frequencies will be reduced substantially.

Audimute will not only make your neighbors happy by reducing the amount of sound leaving the practice space, but there is a substantial secondary benefit... Simply put, Audimute makes for better music and musicianship. It enables musicians to hear their music in incredible detail (i.e. mistakes, buried in acoustic deflections, will now be heard clearly, etc.). It quickly puts an end to the musical "shouting contest" many bands experience as musicians increase their volume and intensity only to hear themselves. The quality of practice time will be substantially increased and enable a band to focus on musical dynamics. In a short time, there will be noticeable improvements in timing, tune, tone and instrumental technique, etc. while creating an audibly safe environment.

Window

Select enough material to cover window, preferably in double layer. Fold sheets for smaller windows if necessary.

Apartment

Our product is most often used on both sides of the wall (in other words, covering the shared wall in both rooms). You would want to cover both sides of the wall and if possible (budget allowing) in double layer.

GO GREEN with Audimute sound absorbing drapery material

Not only do Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets offer outstanding acoustic performance, but they are also manufactured from recycled cotton natural fibers, reducing landfill waste. Audimute's inexpensive sound absorbtion material is safe and non-toxic.

So why choose man-made fiberglass, dubbed as the next asbestos by many? Exposure to airborne fiberglass particles or direct contact with the product can cause skin, eye, nose and throat irritation and itching. Coughing is also a reaction to inhaled fibers. What’s more, fiberglass is considered to be a probable carcinogen by National Institutes of Health.  Fiberglass product packages display cancer warning labels unlike Audimute's cotton inexpensive sound absorbtion material that do not require this warning. These labels are required by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) based on determinations made by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP).

Be good to yourself and your environment, choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets, the natural and safe acoustic solution, a better alternative to fiberglass.

How do I know how much sound this product will absorb?

NRC ratings are one of the best ways to compare similar sound absorption products and determine which are most effective in absorbing sound at various frequencies.  The higher the NRC rating, the more effective the product.

How are NRC ratings determined?

Only products that have been tested in a controlled lab setting receive an NRC rating.  The process of determining a product's NRC involves testing its performance across some of the most common frequencies, then averaging the sum of these individual ratings to determine the product's overall NRC.  In general, an NRC of 0 means a product is perfectly reflective, whereas an NRC of 1 means the product is perfectly absorptive.

Another way to look at these ratings is as a percentage.  For example, if a product has an overall NRC of .70 (such as Audimute Absorption Sheets), the product is estimated to absorb up to 70% of the mid and high frequencies in a room.

NRC Depends on Proper Use & Installation

It's important to remember that the NRC of sound absorption products is determined based on proper use and installation.  If a product has not been installed following our recommended installation method, it may not be as effective.

In general, sound absorption products achieve poor NRC ratings in the low frequency ranges, but do extremely well absorbing mid and high frequencies.  Based on these results, we typically recommend absorption products for mid and high frequency applications, such as those dealing with noise from pianos, flutes, voices, etc.

Customer Reviews

Thanks guys, This is without a doubt a MUST HAVE for all home recording studios. We are now getting a damn near perfectly dead sound in our vocal booth, and control room. We are blown away. We are putting them EVERYWHERE! haha...J.d. and Dan, Loyal 7 Records

The garage kit with the Audimute sound absorption sheets was easy to install using the clips and not only improved the acoustics or our rehearsal space, but also significantly reduced sound transmission. I installed double layers on my garage door and the exterior wall nearest by neighbor's house with excellent results. Decibel levels on average have been reduced 30 dBs.

I've got this stuff and it's awesome. It's cuts down on the reverb in here big time and I found that it REALLY tightens up the bottom end of my monitors by draping them over the back of each speaker. They might not be the prettiest way to cut down on reverb but they're the most economical solution that doesn't involve nasty fiberglass.

I am the founding director of a bird sanctuary and rescue. Recently we took in a Greater Sulfur Crested cockatoo with screaming issues. Any of you who have heard a Boeing 767 take off think you have heard loud. You haven't! I live in a one bedroom apartment. Because of Bob the cockatoos amazing singing voice I was afraid that I would be evicted. After a careful and diligent study of the web I found the Audimute website and consulted with sales support. After installing the soundproofing sheets the volume of Bob's calls were muted within acceptable levels. That's saying a great deal! Many people told me that it is impossible to keep cockatoos in an apartment. At the moment I have 3 cockatoos and all of them are loud. I highly recommend this easy-to-install product for anyone who has noise issues and especially for those who wish to have parrots or cockatoos and are worried about the noise level to their neighbors. The product is easy to install and works as stated, the clips for hanging the sheets are excellent! They make the job easy - worth its weight in gold!

I am a singer / songwriter who has embraced the gift and responsibility of sharing it with those who need it most. I was in need of some type of soundproofing that would allow me to record my music from home. Everyone I had spoke to gave me the usual discouraging words, "you can't make quality music in your home. You have to use a studio that was designed for the purpose of recording." For some reason I couldn't and wouldn't except that. I knew there had to be an alternative. So one day I did a Google search about soundproofing and came across a professional engineer that gave some suggestions about creating your own studio on various budgets. They recommended Audimute as the best product they had ever seen. When I realized that this was the product that I needed- all of my dreams began to unfold. I've had real industry engineers come to my house that were blown away by your sound sheets. They thought that I was using a million dollar studio and a $10,000 mic! Now I know that I can accomplish all my musical endeavors. Thanks Audimute!!! Especially to Mallory who took the time to help me choose the right products to fit my needs. Pros: Theses sound sheet are the best thing I have every seen and used for music. They totally transformed my room into a real studio! - Stefon Beck

I am both an independent producer and Director of a Youth Center, so my needs are two-fold. Within the youth center, we have created a "music room". However, that room cannot be a permanent structure, so we have combined office partitions with Audimute Absorption Sheets. The sheets are used for everything from baffling the walls and ceiling to hanging them like curtains. They have proven extremely useful. At my home studio I have used the Sheets in much the same way and they allow me to separate areas and create "rooms" within the main rooms. The versatility of this product, as well as its effectiveness is what really sets it above other options!

I am a drummer and needed this product because my drum room faces my neighbor's family room- after buying these sheets, I no longer drive my neighbors crazy!
