Need for Audimute:

We just moved to a new location, so I needed to start from scratch and build a new recording studio booth. Once the walls were complete for the sound proofing, I needed something for sound absorption. We do everything as environmentally friendly as possible at Earthology, so a lot of the products used in other studios are just not an option for us. For this recording studio booth, we used a variety of reclaimed wood and recycled products, and capped it off with all natural Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets.

Pros
  • Effective
  • Great for doorways
  • Good for the planet
  • Good for health
  • Affordable
  • Easy installation
  • Looks nice if installed correctly-makes the recording studio booth look lighter

 Cons
  • Can get a little wrinkly in shipping process - I don't think most people would notice and in fact,  I don't mind, but I imagine some folks might want to iron them if they're going to hang them permanently

Additional Comments:

On the soundproofing side of things, I found these to have the biggest bang for the buck hanging over doors.  You can still get in and out of the recording studio booth, but it absorbs a lot of sound that normally leaks through the doors.  I've soundproofed various rooms over the last 20 years, and this my new favorite way to soundproof a doorway.  These sheets are also great because they're made from all natural materials, which is best for an airtight recording studio booth because you don't want to be breathing long-term off-gassing fumes that some of those less earth-friendly products put out.

The sheets are easy to put up and fast to take down.  My use is a permanent need, but if I was in a pinch and needed to setup a recording studio booth somewhere else, I could borrow a few of these off the wall quickly and easily and put them right back when I'm done.  And the best thing is that it was literally half as much as I would have paid trying to do sound absorption with alternative products.

The only con I have is that the sheets can get a little wrinkly.  But, on the plus side of that, for the amount of wall they cover, the amount of space they take in shipping or moving from place to place is a lot less than alternative products.  I'll take a few wrinkles if it means it's easier to move!
