Soundproofing Door Ways with Audimute
Soundproofing Door with Audimute – Seals, Sweeps & Sheets
Soundproofing door treatments are one of the most important and often underestimated aspects of a room. Why, you might ask?
When it comes to blocking sound from entering or exiting a space, it’s important to make your room as airtight as possible, which means soundproofing door ways. The problem is that doors are not airtight – instead, they’re typically hollow and are surrounded by small gaps that allow sound to pass directly in and out of your space. In order to stop sound transmission, these gaps need to be filled and excess noise needs to be absorbed.
Soundproofing Door With Acoustic Seals For soundproofing door ways and ‘filling’ the gaps around tops and sides, we recommend using
Audimute Acoustic Door Seals. Adhering Audimute Acoustic Door Seals to the inside of your door frames is a highly effective, inexpensive way to prevent sound from leaking in and out of one of the weakest parts of your room.
This one-sided, self-adhesive Door Acoustic Seal is made of strong, resilient foam that easily compresses. One roll measures 3/16"x1/2"x50' and can be used to treat 1 to 3 standard sized doors.
Soundproofing Door with Door Sweeps
For soundproofing door gaps at the bottom, we recommend Audimute Adhesive Door Sweeps. Audimute Adhesive Door Sweeps are also one-sided, self-adhesive rolls of tape made of strong, resilient foam. The rolls measure 1/2" thick x 1.5" wide x 25' long and treat approximately 8 standard-sized doors.

Soundproofing Door With Absorption Sheets
Ideally, the next step would be to add mass to your door, since its STC is probably not very high. However, this process would require permanent construction of a product called Peacemaker, which isn’t meant to be the finished surface and is not an aesthetically pleasing solution for soundproofing door ways. It’s a good way to add mass and increase the sound blocking ability of the door, but if you choose this soundproofing door method, be prepared for the fact that it won’t look very stylish.
The next best solution would be soundproofing door ways with Absorption Sheets. Adding Absorption Sheets would lower the sound pressure levels within your room, thereby decreasing the amount of sound that would exit your space. Absorption Sheets are a great soundproofing door option if you’re on a budget or need a portable solution. They won’t add a lot of mass to the door, but they will help by absorbing the mid and high frequencies in your space.
