Audimute Portable Sound Proofing Materials - Acoustic Curtains - Great for Band Rehearsal Space and More!
NOTE: Approximate Long Sheet Size - 3' x 8'
When you buy acoustic curtains (sound absorption sheets) from Audimute, cheap sound proofing materials refers to the price, not the sound proofing materials. Audimute is proud to provide high quality, affordable sound proofing materials to hundreds of customers across the country for use in band rehearsal space, garages, basements, home studios and many other areas where sound proofing materials are essential to controlling noise. Audimute acoustic curtains - sound absorption sheets - on walls, ceilings or windows offer the same excellent results as expensive foams, tiles and panels but are easy to hang or remove with the Megaclips for a highly effective, yet portable soundproof solution.
Audimute sound proofing materials are all natural, environmentally-friendly, safe and a snap to install in any possible location, so make the sound decision! Choose Audimute, sound proofing materials for portable soundproofing that really works!
Choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets for your next sound project whether it's a closet vocal booth or a studio sound proofing job.
Refer to the table below to determine how much product to order. Keep in mind
double layering the sheets will provide best results. (Audimute does not recommend cutting the sheets. Instead, sheets can easily be folded to fit your personal size requirements.) From a 4' x 4' room (a perfect closet vocal booth) to a 12' x 14' room or larger (larger studio sound proofing), Audimute has you covered!
Although there is a great deal of science behind acoustics, for many applications
sound is subjective. It is considered by many to be an art. Everyone's taste is different. For recording, some artists and sound engineers enjoy a natural room sound while others prefer to add effects to the recording later in the mixing process. Drummers tune their kits differently for various styles of music. A rock band that practices in a garage may need more acoustic treatment if they have neighbors next door versus down the street.
The style of music also comes into play. For example, hip hop, known for producing low frequency, will require thicker layers of absorption and possibly even barrier products (Peacemaker, DB-Block, Mass Loaded Vinyl, etc). Jazz, on the other hand, typically may not produce the same sound pressure levels and only require sparse coverage on the walls of the garage.
Audimute's philosophy is not to over sell sound solutions. Our recommendation is to take a phased-in approach and add product as needed to accomplish your acoustic goals. Don't hesitate to call our friendly professionals for assistance. We are a family business and glad to help.

Vocal Booth
Cover all dense surface areas with double layer of sheets (single layer may be used but will not be as effective). Keep in mind that Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets are rated for sound absorption not isolation. However, for many applications they do provide enough isolation for recording vocals when a structure (closet vocal booth, small room) already exists. Ensure your vocal booth is as airtight as possible by using weather stripping, door seal around any doors and an airtight sweep/threshold if need be for the bottom of the door.
Drums
Double layer is recommended due to the wide frequency range of the instrument coupled with high sound pressure levels. Treat right angles (corners) with bass traps. Long Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets (8' x 3') are the preferred choice as they cover the entire wall space.
Garage
Typically a two car garage will need 24 sheets. The more area covered, the better. Peacemaker, another product we manufacture for low frequency isolation, may also come into play, but only in about 25% of our garage projects, usually insulation of thin doors, drywall, floors and more.
The sheets will cancel most of the mid and high frequencies and make neighbors and house mates happy. Some lows will persist, but the nuisance frequencies will be reduced substantially.
Audimute will not only make your neighbors happy by reducing the amount of sound leaving the practice space, but there is a substantial secondary benefit... Simply put, Audimute makes for better music and musicianship. It enables musicians to hear their music in incredible detail (i.e. mistakes, buried in acoustic deflections, will now be heard clearly, etc.). It quickly puts an end to the musical "shouting contest" many bands experience as musicians increase their volume and intensity only to hear themselves. The quality of practice time will be substantially increased and enable a band to focus on musical dynamics. In a short time, there will be noticeable improvements in timing, tune, tone and instrumental technique, etc. while creating an audibly safe environment.
Window
Select enough material to cover window, preferably in double layer. Fold sheets for smaller windows if necessary.
Apartment
Our product is most often used on both sides of the wall (in other words, covering the shared wall in both rooms). You would want to cover both sides of the wall and if possible (budget allowing) in double layer.

GO GREEN with Audimute sound absorbing drapery material
Not only do Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets offer outstanding acoustic performance, but they are also
manufactured from recycled cotton natural fibers, reducing landfill waste. Audimute's inexpensive sound absorbtion material is safe and non-toxic.
So why choose man-made fiberglass, dubbed as the next asbestos by many? Exposure to airborne fiberglass particles or direct contact with the product can cause skin, eye, nose and throat irritation and itching. Coughing is also a reaction to inhaled fibers. What’s more, fiberglass is considered to be a probable carcinogen by National Institutes of Health.
Fiberglass product packages display cancer warning labels unlike Audimute's cotton inexpensive sound absorbtion material that do not require this warning. These labels are required by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) based on determinations made by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP).
Be good to yourself and your environment, choose Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets, the natural and safe acoustic solution, a better alternative to fiberglass.

I've got this stuff and it's awesome. It's cuts down on the reverb in here big time and I found that it REALLY tightens up the bottom end of my monitors by draping them over the back of each speaker. They might not be the prettiest way to cut down on reverb but they're the most economical solution that doesn't involve nasty fiberglass.

A few months ago, I rescued a juvenile sun conure. As the bird grew older, her calls kept getting louder and more high pitched to the point where it became impossible to stay in the same room with her. More importantly, the amount of noise to the outside was becoming embarrassingly loud and affecting my roommate's day to day life, even though our rooms is separated by a spacey living room. After doing some online research, I came across the Audimute Soundproofing website and I realized the absorption sheets might be exactly what I was looking for. I bought a package of 4 absorption sheets; one went up on my room's door, one on each wall at the corner where the cage is placed (to prevent the walls from reflecting and transmitting vibrations), and one around the back of the cage. When she starts screaming, all I need to do is turn the cage around to create a confined space surrounded by the Audimute material, and I instantly got all the noise control I could wish for! This extremely simple set up cut down on at least 60% of the noise within the room and took out most, if not all, of the high frequency waves that used to make my ears ring. I can easily sit at the computer desk by the cage now without being annoyed by the noise. More amazingly, the noise to the outside of my room was cut down by a hefty 80%, and close to 100% to my roommate's bedroom! She can no longer tell if the bird is awake or asleep from her bedroom anymore! Thank you Audimute for allowing me to bring back everybody's quality of life without having to re-home my pet!!! - Hans

I am a singer / songwriter with a home studio. I used the Audimute project in my control room, as well as in my living room where my Audimute sheets are used in my home theater. Audimute absorption sheets reduce ring modulation in the room, yet still retain a live sound.
Pros: I like the product and am very pleased. The shipping is fast, and it works better for absorption than any other sound reduction material I have tried.
Cons: The only issue I have with the product is that the stitching is sometimes already coming loose when new and that the edge seams are not precise enough.- Mark Cassello

I'm a music producer wannabe and performer:) I had to move to a new place and for the first time I'm getting my own real room for music. Now, my room is very flat sounding as we say "dead" and Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets are exactly what I was looking for! I put 20 sheets on the walls (double or 3 layers), it was very easy to hang them and the final look of my room looks great! Now I hear every little detail of my mixes far better than ever, and my performance sounds more real! Another finding is I'm not forced to increase the volume to hear better so my neighbours are also happy I guess:) This is a great customer experience with an unbeatable product at this price. Thanks a lot Audimute!

Pros: Audimute sheets are a simple but effective design that work! Easy to install and move if necessary. A great and affordable alternative to foam products and better for the environment.

In our townhome, one of our master bedroom walls is ajoined to our neighbor’s second bedroom (exercise room) and their stereo is set to 7:00 a.m. sharp every morning. Despite two separate walls with double layered drywall and fiberglass insulation between us, much of the bass still makes it through these materials. We ordered (6) 8’Audimute sound absorbtion sheets and hung them so they reach from floor to ceiling with about a ¾” gap between the sheets and wall. We overlapped the sheets 7” to fit the room, then used double stick carpet tape to make the overlaps tight. We rerouted lamp cords to other receptacles so the sheets to not drape over any wires. Bass from neighbor’s stereo is now cut at least in half and does not wake us up. Any other incidental noise is gone. The echo effect in our master bedroom is gone. The quality of sound coming from the speakers on our 50” plasma on wall opposite Audimute sheets is greatly improved. An unexpected bonus is that the room is warmer since part of the wall was exposed to the exterior. I considered covering the sheets with a more attractive fabric, but they look good as they are! Terrific solution to an otherwise difficult problem – thanks Audimute!
